Ansel (65)

Closer liaison between liong Long and His Majesty's abessy and Consulate otaza in China

Many thanks for your letter F.11419/376/G

of the 27th August.

May I take it that the Foroiga Office agree in principle to the proposal that an officer of the Hong Kong Service should be attached to the embassy at Nanking, if suitable arrangentc can be made. I should like to be able to tell MacDougall that this is the case, as he may still be in some doubt.

As regards the last paragraph of your letter, I think it would be best to leave the Kong Hong Government to settle details of any such attachment direct with the Embassy in larking, and I hope that this will be agreeable to you.

Yours sincerely,

To
